Why was my ESTA application denied?

Based on our professional experience, we have found that these are the most common reasons why an ESTA application is denied.

Reasons for previous trips

On a previous trip to the United States, the allowed time of stay provided by the Visa or the Esta Visa was exceeded.

On a previous trip to the United States, you entered the country with the wrong permit and performed an unsupported role (eg, working for a US company).

You were denied entry to the United States after previously applying for a visa or ESTA Certificate.

Reasons for personal data

  • The information on your passport or identity document is incorrect because it was declared theft or loss or because one or both have expired during the time between when the Visa or ESTA Visa was requested and it was decided to travel to the United States.
  • The data provided in the ESTA Form was incorrect or incomplete and the US authorities have verified the data, concluding that it is wrong.

  • The US authorities have discovered that you have a criminal record despite having marked the answer that no, so your ESTA Certificate is not possible and you must apply for a different Visa.
  • Your personal data matches the identity of a person convicted of a crime or is the victim of identity theft.

ESTA VISA

If your ESTA Certificate is denied, you can try a different visa to travel to the United States. The US authorities have access to different databases to grant the ESTA visa waiver, so it is highly probable that they can detect irregularities in the process and deny the ESTA Form.
US security systems can approve or deny an ESTA application and are not required to communicate the reasons for not granting the ESTA visa waiver.
